Paint or Sealant for interior of cage.

atrox182 Oct 13, 2005 09:41 AM

I have painted the interior of some cages with Acrylic paint, what can i use to seal them from moisture, i read an article in Reptile magazine about eyelash vipers, that stated that acrylic paint was safe to use and would seal the wood, do i even need a sealant? Thanks

This stuff called Kleer Koat is awesome. Its the waterproof shinny material that you see on bar tops and diner tables etc. Its a two part epoxy. A little expensive but its bomb proof and well worth it.

Just to clarify, the Kleer Koat recommended by the previous poster is identical to the Envirotex Lite I recommend and the Glaze Coat discussed in a thread from earlier this week.

I remembered another person having troule with the Envirotex I recommended and I was able to find that post in the KS archives the other day. And you can read Wayman's recent thread where he also had trouble.

I agree that these are great products but want to stress that extreme care must be taken when mixing these. But in many ways they are the idea sealant for reptile enclosures provided the proper care is taken.
