sick long-tailed grass lizard

PaulHemmerling Oct 13, 2005 03:08 PM

I have 2 long-tailed grass lizards and one of them has small black spots coming in underneath his scales. Does anyone know what this could be. I will post a photo of it later on. Another thing to mention is that I live in Chicago and it is getting cold outside, could it have anything to do with the night temp being too low?

its hard to see, but there are three black spots on the side of his belly closer to his rear legs. more and more spots popped up all the time on the other one until he died. please help.

Sounds like either a mite infestation or blister disease from improper humidity. They dont like it wet by any means, and if it is then skin infections will most likely occur. Seek a vet's assistance because it sounds like the infection is internal now.

thank you very much. upon further looking at the lizard i noticed a very very small beetle on him. then i noticed a bunch coming out from his "armpit". i dont have money for a special vet and the lizard was only 5 dollars so i dont know exactly what i should do about it.

try to get all the mites off of him, put him in a different tank and disinfect the other one. get a small butter container or other plastic container and put one of those sticky fly tape things in it. poke holes in the container but not big enough that the longtail can get through. keep the humidity low and make sure he has food. good luck
