In pursuit of white chains

DanW Oct 13, 2005 03:23 PM

It seems like a lot of people are wanting to work on producing the classic blazing white on jet black easterns. There are nice white chained animals typical of locales in North Carolina and New Jersey. I see a lot of Maryland animals too and they look quite nice. Are Maryland animals usually white chained or not? What is typical in animals from Maryland?

Thanks,
Dan

I think nice clean white Easrterns that stay that way are not super common. I think the some of the cleanest animals come from NJ and NC. NC animals can be more yellow but they do have some nice white ones there as well. I havent seen enough NJ to say all NJ are clean bright white cause they arent. I have one female that is ultra white and Im talking Desert Cal King white. I have another thats white/cream and she is a beauty in her own right but not like the bigger one I have. The male Nj I have is alos white but he is in between the 2 females in brightness. None of them are what would be considered dingy. The female Im sending you has bands like her Mother and she will no doubt be a stunning adult. Here are her and her year older brother. Regarding MD aniamals Ive had a few differnt lines and they seem to be more yellow as hatchlings and fade to either white or light yellow. There are others here that can better answer the look of MD Kings better than I.

p.s. I have your female Currituck eating with the male being a pain !

Keith,
Sounds great. Thanks for the info. I can't wait to get the new Easterns. I know they will be smokin and stand outs in my collection of snakes.

Keith Hillson Oct 13, 2005 06:32 PM

No. Some of them hatch out with red on the sides or orange bellies etc...

Here in MD I've caught and breed alot E.kings all white never seen a yellow or off white E. king. Maybe it was just me ..I think the population on the Eastern shore are classics.

Hey dre

Did you find the babies were more yellow or did they hatch out white on black ? My Nj adult pair of Black and white and their babies come out light yellow. What locales ahve you bred and do you still produce them ?

Hi Keith
I mostly hatched white on blk .. I might see an off white baby maybe 1 or 2 out of a clutch but after a couple sheds they would be white too...I got out of kings back in the late 90's but after checking out your site and talking to Pete Jolles I might jump back in the pool
Just a brief story
Back in the early 90's I was breeding WC e.kings for fun and selling some babies to pet stores and releasing most of them back in the wild there wasn't a market.
Then I started to sell babies in bulk to gulf coast and glades herp. Then I was selling a few at shows here in MD for like $20 a baby. This was all pre internet But NOW a whole lot has changed...Now i'm into blk rats and balls .But I still love those E.KINGS

I sure hope this one leans more towards the white than yellow,
but either will do as long as it turns jet black,

Wow,
