Boas in the wild

What do boas prey on in the wild, and what preys on them?

I'm sure there's more that would love a juicy constrictor than people. Top predators in the area would include the jaguar, ocelot (for smaller boas), caiman, other crocodilians, and whatever large bird of prey happens to call South and Central america home.

ps, don't forget about those pesky parasites. It seems like the closer to the equator you get, the more damn bugs there are !

Why are they so big around? What I mean is that some north American snakes, black rat snakes for example, eat the same prey with the exception of primates, and have, or while they were evolving would have had, roughly the same predators to fend off. Meaning, foxes or coyotes or bobcats or something in place of ocelots, and mountain lions in place of jaguars. So, why did rat snakes up here stay so small, and boas get so big? What makes that adaptive?
