Great pics, Chris. How the h#$% do you get so close up and it still be clear and no flash wash out? I guess I just need to spend a few grand more on my camera. Here are some pics of my JCP I took today. This is about as close as I can get. This was without a flash. I tried some with the flash and it was really washed out. I tried a new trick the wife suggested. I shot the flash through a piece of paper, it reduced the washed out look quite a bit. My late herper friend, Ty Kubin, used to do oil paintings of scale close ups like that.

I used a konica-minolta D7 (DSLR) with a 90mm macro lens and three extension tubes (68mm extra extension). I held the flash off camera using an extension cable (or wireless flash - I forgot?) and put a Stofen-Omni bounce diffuser over the flash.

People say they love their point and shoot digitals, but they certainly have limitations.

Very nice picture set Chris. I especially like the angled lighting you used for the black milk - creates nice depth and texture.
