Is he sick or no?

crust112 Oct 13, 2005 09:34 PM

Ok, I had posted awhile back talking about my veiled and black spots that were on his head. Well, nobody really gave any helpful advice and Im still worried about it as his head has shifted to more of a gray color with white on it in places and the black spots remain. I have an alright picture that shoes the gray and the white but the black spots are so small that without getting him out of the cage I couldnt get a good pic. I have been searching for a page with types of fungus types and such that it might be but cant seem to find one. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. Maybe I'll just take em to the vet just incase, prolly cost me some big bucks, but hey, thats what rich parents are for, right.

It is really hard to tell without seeing him in person. The black spots may simply be pigmented scales, as they are not growing or changing. The color change of his casque may be cause for concern, but again, I just can't say from your pic. If there are signs of swelling, oozing, changes in the quality of the skin on the casque there may be a problem. If you rub the skin does anything come off? Often the skin on casques doesn't shed with everything else and it may be very slowly coming loose. Grey patches that are growing or have lumpy scabby edges are probably thermal burns. Sorry I can't give you more help. What about comparing a pic from a younger age? Sometimes the casque on a veiled gets a bit paler as they get older.

Generally you can't tell from a picture what's wrong.
Owning a pet it's like a child. If it gets sick you take it to a doctor. If your pet get's sick you take it to a vet who specializes in herps and let them diagnose it. You wouldn't ask your friends what's wrong with your child so why would you do it with a pet.
Don't take this as an insult as many people try and have non vets diagnose their pets over the internet which they shouldn't.
People here can help with husbandry issues but not medical.
Good Luck..
