Sick Collared blood in mouth and eye infection

MrHobby Oct 13, 2005 09:51 PM

I am looking for any suggestions to help me with my Collared. I have had him for over 1 year. He has shown no health issues other than a minor eye infection and has had a good appetite until the last week. This time, the eye infection did not clear up and both eyes stay closed. I use Terramycin for the eye infection 2 times a day. When appying the ointment the last time, I noticed blood in his mouth. I don't see any cuts in his mouth and assume it is from internal bleeding. Does anyone have any suggestions?

usually is a sign of respiratory infection/ bacterial infection, may also be why the blood in the mouth. I don't know if he's having any difficulties breathing, if you hear a popping sound, or if he is gaping/ opening mouth more or not..

But this sounds serious, when ever blood is seen from mouth or rear, and I would call your vet, he most likely needs antibiotics !

I sure hope he will be okay, please let us know how he makes out.

Best Wishes for your little guy!
