Let him do it on his own. Sometimes they take a little while to get it all off. If you want to help, try misting him with a spray bottle on the affected areas. Fill it with warm water, it is less shocking to their system than cool water. Make sure it is not too hot though. That is what I do for mine, and it usually works. Don't pull on the skin, it can hurt them. Just make sure that his hidebox is moist, and use the spray bottle. Post again if it doesn't work, or if you need more help. Hope this helps.

i read, about the eyes,to get a damp wash cloth & carefully rub around the eyes,it should come off,if it doesn't leave it alone & it mite come off,but tacking it to the vet would be best.

Using a wet q-tip is the best solution, it there is shed on the underneath of its tail i usually just let them walk over my hand a couple of times and it falls off. Using a wet q-tip is the best way, you pull the q-tip back towards you while spinning it away from you and that gets it off.

ok,thats better because the cloth could scratch the eye.

Yeah, where are you getting your answers from? I don't know about you but i only answers the questions i've had personal expierence from. Its a good thing to do, and i hope you will start doing it.

You could also put the gecko in a closed tupperware container for 15 to 20 minutes. Put it in the container with enough warm water to touch it's belly. Then put it on the hot-side in the enclosure.. This should loosen the most persistant of stuck sheds.

yah,my uncle did that once,it worked.

BlueLeo Oct 15, 2005 11:12 PM

I've never had any luck with that. I feel that it took the same amount of "q-tipping" to get the shed off with both methods. So i just skip the 15 minute bath because none of my leos have every liked it.
