your first impresion of a beardie? . . . . .

I dont know if you guys remember your first impresion of a beardie. But I remember mine. It was about 11-12 years ago. I was in a pet store looking at boas when I saw this strange looking lizard staring at me through the glass. I decided to take a closer look. He was perched on a rock. Normal coloring. And I think at the time this particular pet store had a few different species of lizard mixed with it. You got to remember there wasn't a ton of info about them back then so they didnt know any better. First thought that went through my mind was what an ugly lizard! I'll never own one of those. And i didnt pay any more attention. Back to the boas. What I didnt realize was I would soon fall in love with this facinating species. And eventually own quite a few! Lol. Never say never. I just think its ironic that I thought that, yet today I have a room full of them.

anyone else have any stories they want to share?????

peace,
nate

That is an ironic story, lol. My first impression of beardies was more recently than yours. I went to the city pet store to get fish for my father's fresh water aquarium. It was three chiclids I think, anyway I was up front at the cash register and they had a 55 gallon aquarium there with all these little tiny baby lizard lying there looking at me. I just sat there looking at them, they amazed me right away how they didn't hide. It was like I was looking at one of those silly greeting cards. They had to have like 10 of them in the tank. I later when and did research on them and now I own one of them, I love them so much, they are just so cool. My guy when he is light gets orange under his ear and on his shoulders down his side spikes. I would have like to got one from a breeder but I felt good about the one I got, Like I was rescuing him from cetian petstore doom.

I had seen them on here, when I was researching for leos. I was mildly interested in getting one eventually, because of their handlablity. Then we were at a pet store, buying my fiance's hedgehog, and I saw one poop. I took one look, and told my fiance that I changed my mind. I thought they were gross, and I was not going to clean up after something that Pooped like that! Now I am a human pooper scooper on a daily basis, who knew.
