Sonoran Desert Boa question.....

MissHisssss Oct 14, 2005 01:50 AM

If you own an adult Sonoran Desert Boa could you tell me how big it is and how many mice/rats you feed it at each feeding? Then too, how is its temperment?

Thanks,
MissHisssss

Well, I feed mine about every 7-10 days, Mine feed on rats, of the correct size. I treat mine simular to my other BCI's, just cause they are a dwarf boa, doesnt mean they will eat less, they just max out at a shorter lenght than other BCI's. Mine are all about 5 foot range. As far as temperment they love to talk...when I say talk they are the loudest hissers I have kept. Most of mine go threw moods, one day they are mellow, and the next they are hissing at you, most of the time its a lot of bluff, since I have never been biten by them, but I am sure they can back up all the talk too. All of my other BCI's are really mellow, I wouldn't say they are mean, just occasionally cranky. Hope that helps, maybe some big breeders of them will respond as well and give you a better idea, since I have only worked with half a dozen or so.

So is that just one rat of appropriate size at each feeding?
