iceyesnteeth Oct 14, 2005 12:07 PM

just some new pics of my vivarium and snakes, first is my vivarium, second is my blue chondro and the last pic is a photo of one of my sorongs tails.i wanted to show it to see what you guys thought.he has large blotches of bright red that go quite a bit higher than the picture shows and the red is somewhat brighter in person.is he odd or is this more common that i think?i have seen many sorongs with black tail or even dark brown but the red he shows is very bright.anyway, enjoy the rest too.

hey, how old is that blue male???
i notice he still has his stripe through his eye, that usually goes away after they are done changing... so maybe you will have more blue come in... time will tell...

hes about 2,hes really nice but i have to admit hes not quite as blue as this picture is showing.its as close as i have gotten so far and im hoping he will wind up looking like this but he is little more greenish blue(but still blue).he turned from yellow to a greenish blue(more on the green side) but after a year hes now a greenish blue(more on the blue side)i dont know what hell look like but i have seen some pics of the "super blue"designers and they seemed to be quite a bit bluer even at a year than mine is now.either way i love him and i can only hope for the best.another thing this picture is not showing are his green diamonds on his back.in person the green next to the blue helps to bring out the blue rather than if he was all that color, with no "true green"to compare it too.so,what do you think of my sorongs red tail, thats the real reason for the post.is it odd?? or have you seen sorongs with bright red tails like that??.the blotches go up another inch more than you can see in the picture.really nice in person.

your blue male was a yellow neo??? who produced it and who were the parents???

ya, the red is odd... i have an Aru that is a nice light mite phase and some of the black spots are rust in color... vary cool... you need to get yourself a photo box... trust me it takes all the work out of the pic, all you have to do is make sure it is in focus...

oh sorry,as far as the breeder, wish i could remeber his name.i bought him when i was living in canada.i guess at this point, the only way i can get his name would be to look on my paypal account info(if it goes back 2 years)he was the second chondro i ever bought and back then i really wasnt that interested or knew how important blood lines are.im not sure if it was an established line or not but if he does keep going the way he is going and he ends up being something special,i know i am going to be sorry i didnt take more of an interest back then.good blood line info is important in determining the value or a chondos offspring and if i ever do produce a clutch from this guy,im sure the new owners are going to be more than a little interested in his background.oh well.i still cant get a straight answer about one thing.nonhormonal females are very rare and i dont see myself ever getting up the money to buy a proven one.i think the best i can hope for(short of a breeding loan)would be to pair him with a hormonal blue.would pairing him with a hormonal blue give me any better chance of blue babies than if i paired him with a regular??how about a high blue striped sorong? better chance of producing blue designers than if i just paired him with say an aru?i would assume pairing him with a snake that has the most blue markings should give me a better chance than pairing him with a snake with little or none but im really not sure.now i understand that genetics play a huge part and the right parents may not even have any blue but have been proven to throw off blue babies.im talking about non proven adults.

well to be honest you would probably sell them faster if you paired him up with a hormonal blue girl, because alot of people would just buy and not understand the bloodlines... lol
if it were me....... i would probably try and find a nice bluish animal that was red as a neo... an Aru would probably not be your best choice because they throw yellow babies, and with yellow being a more dominent color you would probably get yellow babies which means no blue...

good luck...

well he wasnt the dark maroon or brown i see almost all of the super blues starting out as either.rather more of a red or orange.do you think that has anything to do with the fact that his blue is not as bright as some and more of a bluish green?the best way to describe his color would be that of a typical hormonal blue female.

shhawke Oct 14, 2005 03:55 PM

ya hormonal blue was my first thought too...
considering the track record of the super blue animals (like Mr. Blue) coming from dark red neo's, i guess ya it might make a difference... its hard to say... these are chondros... lol
