which is better, wood or plastic?

since something along the lines of a freedom breeder is outside my budget, is plastic or wood better for a ball rack? i know wood is going to be much heavier but i would also think it's stronger. are mite infestations really an issue in wood enclosures?

If you dont treat your wood, you can end up with a mess you really dont want, the humidity will rot it out if you dont put some type of sealant, make sure to let it air out and find something that is relatively harmless.
