WEEK IN REVIEW!!!!

toshamc Oct 14, 2005 06:14 PM

Sorry guys – I came down with a flu or something last night - major congestion head and fever (Ick) - so this weeks week in review may be a little weak! Thank you Cole for helping me out with the first three days!

1. Congrats to mavh2 - the first clutch is the best!!!! Welcome to the breeders club!

2. Big discussion on people undercutting the market – bad business or are we really entitled to sell our animals at whatever price we want? We’ve also learned some people should not drink and type – see drink and dial syndrome.

3. Just in case you didn’t get the memo: we’ve had a request to stop producing pastels next season – apparently someone wants to corner the market errr I mean save the market.

4. Last weekends Tinely Park show – apparently it was a success:

Pastel Pied very beautiful

Silver Streak (I love this snake)

White Cinnys

5. Huge discussion on the benefits (?) of getting a 100% het female as opposed to a 100% male and a few normal females. Was the week really that boring we needed to hash this out twice for half a page each?

6. Tom’s got something special under wraps – can’t wait to see what hatches! Another Crystal?

7. Welcome back to Chris – I told you Balls are like the mob – just when you think you are out they drag you back in. LOL – Nice to see you back in the forum!

8. There have been a ton of hook ups this week - just wondering do dog breeders take photos of their animals doing it or is it just snake people? Speaking of doing it the Invisiball is reproducing beautifully – we look forward to “seeing” the offspring of this one!

9. The Banana Clown is out on the town this week. Now, I am a great fan of clowns (my favorite morph) and I like the bananas, I did liked the banana clown the first time I saw it - but now – to be honest – I’m just not feeling it that much anymore. Kinda reminds me of some cotton candy popcorn blend my kids threw up after stuffing themselves at the last fair. Sorry I know it’s a favorite in this room – not saying I hate it – just not feeling it.

10. What is up with all of these prolapses lately? In the past 3 weeks we have seen like 5 posts about them – is it something in the food? Do we need Dulcolax for balls? I’ve never even heard of it in balls before?

11. Camlons “little 5 clutch”

12. Congrats to Joe Lydon (got boids) on the new addition:

13. Do we really have to have a page long discussion on the percentages on hets? Lets see if we can work out a new system to make things easier – maybe we could do something like this:

There are 100% hets - offspring of Homo animal
There are possible hets - which may possibly carry the gene for **** morph.

When it comes to genetics – lets face it – it’s all a crapshoot if there is the likelihood of the morph gene being involved lets just say you have a 50/50 chance on each egg. We’ve seen the odds defied so many times either one way or another. And besides don’t you know girls suck at math.

14. OK my rant of the week – (sorry I get cranky when I don't feel well) - What’s up with people posting these animals on the forum under the heading “what do you think of this one” and posting that same animal in the classifieds? I mean is this like one of those deals where it’s advertising for the snake in the forum without breaking TOS or is it some way for the seller to try to figure out what to sell the snake for (can they get more for it?). Or is it something else? I see it a lot so I’m wondering?

Favorite Picts of the week:

They start younger and younger every year

Have a good weekend!!

Thanks for the review, Tosha. Sorry you're not feeling well. However, I was still a great review...perhaps you need to be a little more "candid" each week!

PS I think if you see the banana clown in person it may hook you.

I didn't mean to offend anyone with the banana clown comment - please don't send hate mail - it was the medication talking - LOL. I guess it came across wrong - I was simply saying it wasn't my favorite of morphs possibly because it reminds me of aforesaid incident and I am therfore prejudice against it - who knows - it's probably a beautiful snake in person. I don't care much for white snakes either - but I know that many find them amazing and wonderful morphs - so be it. I was in no way putting down the snake and I apologize if I've offended anyone.

Don't apologize there is no need. I agree with the white snakes "BORING" the pieds are beautiful but I also prefer the low white to high white pieds. If people have a problem with opinions they are just being anal retentive. But I do like the Banana Clown, and yes you did not offend me, I still like it so your opinion is just that.

yah, dont say sorry! Just post those hate mails here so we can send them hate mail. Everyone should express their openion. I think is an amazing combo. I dont really care for lucys. I personally think the lucys are just genetic desasters. It seems like one well known breeder can breed a large number of things and produce lucys.... sure they have different eye colors... I still dont think they are anything special.

First I want to say I hope you feel better.
Remember tea, soup, and vitamins.

Also thank you for the welcome to the breeders club.
Not bad for the first time.
7 eggs = 7 babies (50%het for albino) and no slugs.

gentlemantw0 Oct 14, 2005 11:07 PM

the silver streak. I just can't get over how much I don't like that snake. If you asked me to rate my favorite top 5 morphs, I'd have to tell you:

A real nice high contrast "lemony" pastel
Lavender albs and regular albs
piebalds
blue eyed lucy's
and trp's

Guess I have low standards lol.

Thanks for this! I don't get to see every post so it's nice to have this synopsis of the weeks events.

"I'll tell you the problem with the scientific power that you're using here: it didn't require any discipline to attain it. You read what others had done and you took the next step. You didn't earn the knowledge for yourselves, so you don't take any responsibility for it. You stood on the shoulders of geniuses to accomplish something as fast as you could and before you even knew what you had you patented it and packaged it and slapped it on a plastic lunchbox, and now you're selling it, you want to sell it!" I'd really like to see what a Banana ball looks like. On the RDR site he lumps it with the coral glow, but when I looked for photos I got some out of Germany of what they are calling a Banana & I it doesn't look right to me. Sigh...

Defending his light,
And wondering...
Where the hell have I been?
Sleeping, lost, and numb.
So glad that I have found you.
I am wide awake and heading home.
