lighting problem. Any electricians here?

rc_racer_007 May 18, 2003 11:11 AM

hey, this is probibly in the wrong forum but i couldnt find a lighting forum.

any ways, i got a 36" fluorescent light strip that holds 2 lights yesterday from lowes and a power cord so i can wire it to plug into the wall.

this morning i assembled it and hook up the light to the power cord (white to white, black to black). i just got one cheap light from lowes to use on it until i can get 2 high kalvin lights. now on one of the light input things (where the light bulb plugs in) it works.

but on the second one it doesnt work. i can hear to light humming but no light. i even switched the light input things wround and when i changed them the same one still didnt work. (the same strip that didnt light up the first time). is it broke or am i missing something?

Could just be a bad bulb. Have you tried moveing the them around to make sure? Could also be a bad fixture.

i only bought one bulb. im going to buy some good bulbs off the net for it cause no one around here sells high kalvin bulbs for a 36"

i have been using that one bulb. it works on one of the light hook ups, not not the other. i have even switch the hook uppart so they are using a different one. still the same one that didnt work before didnt work this time. when tring to get the bulb in it will just for a second barly light up then go off. its probibly a bad fixture. ill take another look and then take it back to lowes i guess.

do you mean that you only have one bulb in a double fixture bulb when you turn it on? If this is the case, then the fixture will not work correctly. It will do just as you described. You will need to get 2 bulbs to see if it is working.
