My first

I'm now a snake owner. I've only wanted to have a pet snake for 30 or 35 years. The time finally seemed right, and I'm typing the best that I can while my California Kingsnake explores my arm and fingers. If I figure out how to post pictures, I'll show him to the world.

Nice. If you want to post pics get a digital camera and the usb cable for it and put the pics on the computer then put it in the photo gallery. Did you get a hatchling? Wish my hatchling corn snake was like that lol.

This one isn't a hatchling. He's about three to three and a half feet long. The pet store owner said that he bought this snake from a breeder. Apparently the breeder did a pretty good job with this one. He's always been very tame to me. I've heard that he might have bitten someone else at the store, but he's always been great with me. The only problem that I'm having so far is that he's hiding under his water dish, but I guess that's normal for the breed.

I'll try to get posting priviledges to the photo gallery and put his picture there.

Thanks very much! I've been interested in snakes all my life, but I'm new at having one as a pet. If you have advice, I'd like to hear it. I've just bought a ball python as well, so I'm jumping in with both feet so to speak. I bought the aquarium that the pet store had for this guy (the California Kingsnake), and I'm keeping him in it until I can get a bigger one. It's a 20-long, but I'm ordering a 55-long. Right now, he's spending all of his time under his water bowl. I'm not sure whether that's good or bad.

Thanks, now I just have to keep him happy. The pet store where I bought him had him in a 20-gallon long aquarium, but I think it's too small for him. I've got him there now, but I have another pet store that is going to order a 55-gallon long. The bigger tank should be better in the long run, but he's been okay in the 20-long for the past couple of months. He should be okay for another week or two. Right now, he mostly hides under a water bowl that I asked the store manager to put in his tank about a week or so before I bought him. Any advice that you have will be greatly appreciated.
