Digging

Why do beardies dig? My two beardies are taking turns digging. She did it for awhile and now he is? What is the purpose?

Bearded dragons dig for a lot of reasons.

They live in a hot and arid environment and sometimes will dig to escape the heat.

They dig for nestinf sites

some sleep under their substrate. I used to have a male that would completly sleep under the sand.

Sometimes if they are stressed they will try to dig out of their enclousures.

these are just a few examples of why a beardie might dig.
