This ol' man was collected by a good friend of mine back in June of 1992. He was found during a cold drizzle on a cut west of Sanderson. He was about 13" long and crawling in the place all of us dread... out of reach LOL. My friend was able to run down to the end of the cut, run back to the point on the top of the cut immediately above where he'd left the animal, and catch him. He's actually the same critter pictured on Gerry Merker's alterna poster. Age has seen his background color turn a bit beige as his orange bled into the gray, but he's as impressive as the day I first saw him. He's showing his age, but I have a lot of memories tied to this snake.

This guy's the Glass critter pictured in one of the threads below. He too has grown away from the silver background color he used to have but his orange is still as nice as ever. Craig and Linda Trumbower and I found this guy while hunting together back in 1997. We passed him as he lay in the other lane... coming off of the shoulder. I said something, Craig slowed, turned around, and we rolled up to him. We didn't think we were near any rock so my mind was flashing *Rhinocheilus*. Craig opened his door and through the space between the door frame and the door I saw color. Craig jumped out and pogoed around for 5 minutes. It was his second alterna. That was a great night.

Thanks so much for the kind comments! I have very much enjoyed looking at your shots over the last few years as well. The photography is probably the single most exciting part of herping for me nowadays... and it's always fun to share with someone who appreciates it. Thanks again!
