Gargoyle digestion question

irshprncsk Oct 15, 2005 11:03 PM

I have a female gargoyle that has, long story short, eaten a whole snail...or so I assume, as the snail is no longer in her tank that I can see. She is not acting differently and is still eating her fruit blend. Will she be able to digest the hard shell of the snail? What kind of symptoms should I look for if she gets impacted from it? How long should it be before I know? She does not look bloated or anything, either. Thanks.

how large was the snail?
i would imagine your gargoyle will easily digest the calcium shell. many female lizards/geckos will eat snails in the wild for added calcium.

That makes me feel better. I've fed snails to my turtles but they always crunch up the shell, and I'm not sure the gargoyle had the power to do that. The snail shell was about nickel sized. It seemed odd to me that she ate the snail but not the 5 crickets in her cage! Maybe she's bored with them...on top of her baby food, of course. Thanks!
