There is some weird stuff on my hatchling's shell. It looks almost like a dust. it is gray in color. i have scrubbed his shell and it didn't come off, but there are no holes in the shell.
Any ideas on what it could be?
Thanks.

a picture would help a lot, but it may be a fungal or bacterial infection in which case you would need to get the appropriate fish meds to treat him. what is the setup like?
Unfortunately, I am unable to get a pciture posted. Can you use regular fish medicine on a hatchling? What kind should I get? The turtle arrived to me like it is. I have a UVB light and the basking light set up. There is proper filtration and the temp is what it should be. I am familiar with what I should have for a turtle set up. I have other turtles. But this little guy is separated from everyone. I have no idea what the set up was before I received the turtle.
Thanks for your reply.
is this a red ear slider? i used trisulfa for my turtles when they had a skin fungus and that cleared it up quick. treat it as if it is a fish tank, just follow the directions on the package. i havent needed to use it on hatchlings, but i would if i needed to, and i wouldnt ask you to do something i wouldnt be willing to do myself. what kind of filter is it? what temp is the water?
