Argentine Cage Question for 2.5 footer?!?!?

JustinM. Oct 16, 2005 04:17 PM

O.K.......... I'm adopting a 2.5 ft. Argentine and I was wondering what everyone recommends as a suitable cage to grow out until I buy a 5ft. Vision??? I'm thinking a 55 gallon; but, does anyone know any other alternatives to an all-glass aquarium or Vision. I don't need any advice for care..............I'm straight on that! I just want to hear about alternative caging methods. Thank you for your time; it's greatly appreciated

I would build it a 8'-4'-2', Put a baffle in at the 6' mark till its over 3 /1/2 foot long Russ.

I personally just got a new black 6'x2'2' melamine enlcosure with sliding glass doors for my 24" plus male tegu. For a hide box I use a kitty litter box turn upside down with a hole in it that I mist daily. When I bought the enclosure before I put the substrate in for protection against water I got this lining from Home depot to cover the bottom for $12. I had him in a 60 gallon reptile tank and space was limited. A 55 gallon is a little longer and taller though but not as wide. I would get him out of there and into something larger asap. They need a lot of room to move around and I felt bad keeping mine in its 60 gal as long as I did. Your tegu is even bigger than mine. If you live in SO CAl i can give you the ladies email that I got mine from for $125. SHe has 2 more they in perfect shape. I dont really like the look of the vision cages they look cheap to me.. not somethiing like a nice melamine enclosure that you can put in your living room. You cant beat the used price at 125 compared to new at $300 Its all personal preference though. Ive heard from others that you shouldnt put them in melamines b/c of their humidity requirement.
