ball python size

about how long does it take a python to get full grown or over three feet because im thinking about breeding them. thanks

18 months and 1500g is when they might start breeding. Legnth really has not much to do with it. Even if you meet the ideal conditions, 1500g at 18 months, that doesnt mean she will ovulate that year. It could be another year or two. Some will tell you 1000g, 1200g... it really wont matter too much as long as its around 1500g and she ovulates. Now you could have some health issues if you push her too fast too hard. You could get a pile of slugs (bad eggs).

Give her 2 years and 1500g, if she lays, congrats. If not, maybe next year.

Oh yah, for males, they can breed at 500g, but 700g is better, as they will work alot during breeding season and might go off feed. A male is mature when he produces sperm plugs. These are white balls of goo that can be pushed out of their tail end. Just because a male is of age and producing sperm plugs, dosnet mean he will figure it out the first year. Different snakes have different attitudes. Tell him hes a big stud, and all the girls are looking at him... it might help.
