i don't know for sure about dragons but for other lizards the yawning is a method used to regulate their body temperature

I've seen my dragons do something that I would describe as yawning. They open their mouths pretty wide (not gaping to regulate body temp) and then puff their beard out a little (like stretching) then close their mouth again. It might be that they are just stretching out their beards, but they open their mouths for a few seconds too. They seem to do this more in the morning hours.

Mine do it sometimes. They seem to do it more when they are about to shed around the mouth it seems to loosen the crease between the lips.

yep. in the am my kid will do what I think of as "wake up and strech"

yawn....
Puff beard....
puff and flaten body...
get up and walk some....
find some fresh greens....

sit a few....
Poop!

get clear of poop with tail up.

look for crickets to arrive on time

I can almost set my clock to his poop and feed times...
