purple pastel dragon . . . .

nathan23 Oct 17, 2005 01:43 PM

What do you guys think if there were dragons available with this color? Ive talked to a few breeders and they seem to think there would be no market for them and people wouldnt buy them. I think they would be a popular color morph. Not to mention purple is my favorite color, lol. Who knows maybe some day they will be on the market.

peace,
nate

please note this dragon does not exsist. I edited the photo so you could get an idea of what a purple dragon would look like.

What would you breed to get it, if you make it people will buy it, it is as simple as that. However I know of red, yellow, gold, oragne, but to get purple you would need a set of colors not know to exists at this point as far as I know there are no blue dragons.

Well you wouldnt exactly need blue dragons to get purple. I dont know if youve ever seen hypo dragons with a lot of lavander color, but If you take certian colors out of their black pigment then you can have a nice purple lavander color. Also their are a lot of dragons out there with a ton of purple side bars. maybe selectivly breeding these to get more sidebars could be a start. Maybe you could take the darkest animal you could find and cross it to a white hypo pastel. then take the hets and breed them together who knows. Also im not sure what the exact genetic trait is called but there are purple snakes out there. For example the purple passion corn snake. no blue ever went into this morph. When All is said and done I have no idea exactly how you would get a purple dragon. I just think it would be awesome if they exsisted.

One cool thing about working with dragons is you never quite know what you are going to get. Every clutch is different. just look at blood dragons, they are a very deep red color and they came from breeding two yellow dragons together. Who knows maybe someday someone will have that one purple dragon hatch.

I would definitly buy one, I love pastel coloring. I am in love with Amelanistic fat tails for that reason. Sadly I am not in a position to spend that kind of money on one lizard.

Well just keep waiting on the amel fat tails. They defintly have dropped in price, and will continue to do so. One day they will be affordable.

And who knows maybe one day a purple dragon will be on the market. till then I'll just have to keep dreaming. lol.

Mystical-Dragons has a purple striped (on the back) dragon for sale presently, I am guessing this might be a good place to start.
