Ok to feed a Uro?

shanetram Oct 17, 2005 03:19 PM

Hi I came across this website and I was wondering if there was anything in this mix that would be harmful to a uro. The dried flower mix contains Marigold (calendula) petals, hibiscus petals, dandelion leaves, red clover leaves and blossoms, chamomile blossoms, peppermint leaves and can be found at the link below. Is there anything in there that might be harmful to Uros?

Also any suggestions what I should leave for food if I have to go away for a day? The lights are on a timer so I just want to make sure he has enough food.

I highly doubt that a Uro would eat them because they are dried. But, you could try

Why is that? Uro's came from a desert, and the plant material they are eating in there is often very dry.
Well, sure if they haven't eaten any dry herbs for a time, it could take some time for them to "learn" or realize that it's food. hehe.
My uros love to eat any dried vegies and herbs.

By the way, that mix sounds really expencive to me! I have collected and dried herbs for my uros by myself.

I'm not sure if there is some plants that are not recommended for uros in that mix, but I don't think there would be. It's meant for lizard use.

My uro has no problem wating dried foods. I was just looking for something that was an easy way to provide a little variety and would be good when I went away for a day or two. Flowers are very hard to find naturally this time of year in the northeast so I thought this might be a decent alternative for an occasional meal.

Thanks
