Lavender TX Rat....

byron.d Oct 17, 2005 03:37 PM

I love the color of these guys!!! The male (pictured) is considerably lighter than the female.. I purchased the pair of them from at the IRBC show here in L.A.. They were sold as 'plain old albino texas rats'....

Guess I shouldnt complain for $35.00 huh....?

I've got a couple of those too. They were sold to me as T albino / hypomelanistic. Very, very nice looking snakes.

listed as T Albino, Albino, and hypos to.
i love how they color up as adults. Mine are smaller than normal hatchlings and gave me a bit of trouble eating early on.

heres the female.

Does the snake in your picture have pink eyes? That snake has way to much brown showing to be amelanistic.

have dark eyes. not pink at all.
that is why I cant figure out what makes some people call them albinos..... I know they'll get considerably lighter as they mature, but still....

Since they have dark eyes, they are not "albino" snakes. They might be hypo in coloring. I have a pair of orange phase Texas Rats that I got last year and they don't look at all alike. Isn't nature grand.
