Quantity: Size, Prey Ratio

Hello all, my ball is now approx. 3 ft long, and six inches around his belly. He's currently eating two adult mice weekly, and seems ready to move up, hes out and about with no visible lump within 24 hours of eating. At what time should I move him up to say, small rats, as opposed to increasing numbers of mice? Any input welcome.

If it's three feet long now it shouldn't have any trouble taking a medium sized rat. If it's only been eating mice all this time try a small rat and see what happens. If it takes that then I'd try a medium one the following feeding. Good luck.

I agree with pete that he/she is definitely ready to move up, i would personally leave it at smalls for a while, especially if you feed live. The ones i have at about that size take a big small every 4 days, this way they still can move around between feedings. They can and sometimes do take mediums, but, by the time they fully digest, its time to eat again, so they are back to staying curled for another few days until next feeding if you see what im getting at.
