I've had a few snakes stop eating on me recently, and I was wondwering if anybody else has had this going on too.
If a girl goes off feed but it is of breeding size, should I just throw a male in for kicks?

Had my female bp at 271 grams go off feed after sheding for 2.5 weeks. I broke the hunger strike tonight by dipping a stunned brown mouse in chickens blood. She hit it within seconds of me placing it in the cage with her. Shes way too small and young to breed so i waited it out and now she should be back on course.
My 5 year old male has eaten fairly sparsely all year, but ya as of late he wont take anything. Im not worried tho, he does it every year and he is big enough to where there is no worry.

Mine went off feeding about a month ago. A cold front came in just after having good weather and that was it, 80% of my snakes off their feed. Its normal. Personally I feel the whole dropping of temps is helpfull to start breeding behavior but a drop in pressure(cold front) has also started my males and females off. When you drop temps in the breeding season thats basically what you are doing, making weather for ya snakes!
So far, my female ball python (approximately a year old, bought her February of this year, suspect she was born during last summer) eats everything I throw at her, be it frozen thawed, live or freshly killed mice or rats (live prey typically being hopper or fuzzy rats, occaisonal adult mouse, under supervision to ensure no injuries are caused the snake. I typically feed frozen thawed, but sometimes I hate waiting to thaw and getting blood all over the place with freshly killed..though I will never put a live rat in, over the fuzzy stage). She is pushing 500g now...I expect if she eats all winter, she will be well past breeding weight and age by her third winter (and if I have a breedable male by this time next n ear, I may breed her, but most likely won't till the following fall)
