Seeming as this site has been sooo helpful to me i have to ask a heating question... So Steve and I went and got a rubbermaid this weekend and cut the holes in the top and put the screen on it we made some branches for our new little guy and we are using and UTH, BUT we aren't haveing humidty luck..I think we put tooo many air holes in it... and we forgot to put the water dish in it for our experiament which will help im sure, but we are having problems measureing the air temp.. We have mostly boas and our temp gun only measures surface temps, so how will i be able to know if the "air" temp is at 82 degrees??? Help me heat my tank please..!

Also.. I have a breeder question...Is there going to be any really good/well known breeders in Daytona... Who should i buy from? I want to spend the extra money to make sure its a CB well started baby.. I know it will be worth it from what i have heard about WC babies.. So give me a run down of good breeders...

Also thanks everyone for the hint about Barr cages.. Steve is just dying to order one for this little guy next year... he's so excited.. i love to see him like that so thank you all..!

Sincerely,
Rose & Steve

If your hitting the bottom of the cage at 82 and your heating from the top. I would say your raytek reading is perfect, I heat my enclosures at 84 hot end. As for the humidity issues, i reccomend covering some holes. Differnt ventaltaion works for different rooms.

ok this is what I did,

I a bought an indoor/outdoor thermometer/hygometer(humidity gauge) from target (GE brand) it's not exact but it gives you an idea. Also it is very important to use a thermostat, I use an ESU unit it's not that acurate but it does the job. If you want the best check out Pro Products. If you want to cover up holes use packing tape it works great. Put the thermostat probe at the highest point near the heat and set it at 86 - 88
that way the snake can thermoregulate itself. Just to let you know I am no expert, but these methods have worked very well for me, my little guy is doing excellent, I dont know if I am just lucky or what but these seem to be good ideas to me.

If you want to talk more 'bout this E-Mail me @ skorts@rkassociates.com

Best of luck
Steve
