A few questions about my veiled...Im also new here...

Hi everyone, my name is Donna. This looked like a nice place compared to the other forums, so I thought I'd join the fun.

Anyways, I have a 5 month old male veiled chameleon. I purchased him 1 month ago from KS classifieds. I recorded his size the first day I recieved him, and its now been a month. Today I went to record his size and realized he hadnt grown at all! He also turned a brownish color, instead of his normal turqoise and yellow bars? Is this just a phase, and will he still grow alright? Does he have growth spurts?

He is about 8 1/2 inches head to tail, lives in a medium fresh air habitat (26 by 24 by 12) feeds on gutloaded crickets, butterworms, silkworms and mealworms that are dusted with Calcium D3 and a multivitamin every 2-3 day. He also has a reptisun 10.00 Im pretty sure Im doing everthing right, and he's already shed his skin once. Any info or comments would be appreciated, and thanks.
Sincerely, Donna

Yes, they do have growth spurts, and at 5 months his most rapid growth is over. He'll still grow, but more slowly. Some male veileds seem to go through a "brown phase" when they have lost their baby color but not yet gotten the hormone-triggered adult color.
