Sad day. . .BIG JOHN passes away. . . .

BlueKing Oct 18, 2005 08:31 PM

Big John, my 6 foot 5 inch S.GA. Eastern finally passed away today. After refusing to breed the last two seasons and eating less and less all year, he decided it was time to go. . . He weighed over 5 pounds last year and lost half that weight before passing on today.
Sad day today. . . I'll miss the big guy. . .

Ahh no one likes to see a snake go but I wonder why he went? Did you have him for more than 10 years or something, and I wonder why he was eating less and less each year. I don't think snakes decide when they need to go. Maybe the stress of breeding or something or infection.

BlueKing Oct 18, 2005 08:45 PM

He was already pretty old when I got him and thought that he would have ONE more year of breeding left in him. I would guess he was at least 12-15 years old and a little on the obese side when I got him. His appetite dimished only THIS year after coming out of brumation back in FEB.

Sorry for your loss. To many of us who were fortunate enough to view your pictures, he was the original Georgia giant. He will be missed.

So I probably won't even have a Eulogy, but my wife says that our dogs will!

Zee

I can understand a dog because a dog can love back. Love for a snake is a one way street. I have cars and toys "I love" as well.

We line up to honor your dead, to mourn your loss, and to relate before we depart that life & its myriad joys continue.

A new snake will delight your life in the days & nights of tomorrow. Keep joy in the memories of John that you were able to know in this mortal existence.

Ever forward!

"It was only a fleeting fancy, it passed like an April day.
But a look and a word, and the dreams they stirred
have stolen my heart away.

They say that time heals all things,
they say you can always forget,
but the smiles & tears across the years they pull my heartstrings yet."
