Leopard gecko housing

jrmjjj Jul 21, 2003 12:04 PM

I recently got a leopard gecko and I understand that it needs a humid hiding place . I made one out of a tuperware and my leopard gecko seems to like it only on one condition . My leopard gecko will only go in it if it is on the warm side of the tank . When it is on the warm side the moisture goes away very quickly and I can't figure out how to keep the moisture in . Can any one help me out .

Hey,

Let's see now... If you are using paper towels inside of it, then it's normal for it to dry out faster,(I just tape paper towel to the top too and mist that also for extra humidity). Just keep misting it,(not until it's wet of course, just damp). You MUST have it on the warmer side so, if it's moss or vermiculite you also should just keep misting it! That's an effort worth making for you're Leo, many benefits come from a constently moist hide. Hope this helps!

Hey!

You need a higher temperature to actually produce mositure!(The humidity you're gecko needs).

Think of it this way would you want to be cold and wet or warm and humid...the geckos dont like to be cold and wet because its common sense you freeze so they like it better warm and humid.
