NEVER seen her drink!?!

Sac-snake-man Oct 19, 2005 05:21 PM

I have a JCP that is 36” and very healthy! I have had her since the early spring when she was a hatchling. I know this sounds strange because she obviously is drinking out of her water bowl but no one in my house as ever seen her do it! I rarely see her even near it. I have put her in the water and she seems to hate it. I do have it on the cold side but the ambient temp is 75-80. My Irian Jaya is in the same setup and goes to water just fine. The only time I see her drink is off the glass when I mist her, but that can’t be enough…can it?

Since she prefers to be up in her branch I was thinking of installing a small parrot perch bole for water. Maybe I should not worry about it since she eats like a horse and is growing like mad.

I wouldnt worry about it at all especially if you mist her frequently, I think they drink more water off their coils than we realize, Im sure she would go down to her water dish and drink before she would get herself dehydrated, I have several carpets and I really cant recall seeing them drink from a bowl either

I have never seen my JCP drink from his bowl either. He's about 3 1/2 feet and only a year old. I've had him from when he was a hatchling and I have never seen him drink lol. I don't even mist him. I soak him only during shedding time. But I'm sure They get to their water bowls when the lights are out and when we're sleeping.

Unless I've just put fresh water in the bowl, I never see my animals drink. I think it's part of the nocturnal prowling thing. I HAVE seen them drink just after feeding.

I have two JCP's, one male and one female. I've seen the female drink at least once. She did have a huge bowl I had left over from a boa cage. She never got in the water and kinda acted like she was afraid of it. A couple weeks ago, I got rid of that huge water bowl and put a smaller one in there. She using that part of the cage much more now.
I have never seen my male even near his water bowl, he's in his hide box during the day, and on a branch with his head down in a hunting pose during the night. I've never really worried about, I just figure they are drinking late at night, when I'm asleep.
