Substrate Bugs??

ukborneoguy Oct 19, 2005 05:37 PM

I have had a few problems in the past with mites on young dumerils and since i used hypoaspis predators they seem to have been wiped out. However a new bug species is multiplying in their place and i have no idea what it is. The bugs have wings and enjoy the moist bark substrate and can fly! My dumerils dont seem to enjoy their company too much but jus wondering if they could be a form of the hypoaspis or snake mites or just an insect that came with the bark.

i have a friend that has the same problem. i forget exactly what they are (4 hours of sleep and its now 330 am) but i do know that they are (according to my friend because she consulted a vet) harmless to the snakes. they are attracted to the waste product and are in fact in the substrate(in egg form) when you buy it. the insects are simply an annoyance not a harm.
