Well green took a chick

496ss Oct 19, 2005 08:20 PM

Hi all just wanted to let you all know my female baby green took a baby chick 3 days old. I followed all the good advice on the forum. All I can say it worked. I got this snake in August and tried several times to feed mice, she would not even look at them. I did not try rats for I could not get them small enough. I am lucky to have a live poultry market near by my home. I called and they had baby chicks for 3 bucks each. Well worth it after lights out I have a timer for a 12 hour cycle of light from 7:30AM to 7:30PM at exactly 7:45 she took the chick.
She came out of her hide box and I had a small light in the next room on so I can see and took a chair and waited. what a sight she was wrapped around chick. All I can say is thanks to all for the suggestions for I have been reading posts about trouble with feedings. Forget the mice, try the rats and if all fails the chicks are a sure bet to get going on the feeding.
Good luck to all on feedings prombles.

Wow, awesome!!!! I like what I hear as I got the same problem.
My baby green did not eat since I got it in august. Won't even look at mice nor rats. Funny how the guy I bought it from ensured me that it eats live mice readily. Anyhow I am currently emailing this local vendor regarding baby chicks. I will try frozen and live to see what works best. I am glad to hear you baby green ate as I am sure I will have the same result. Glad you posted that outcome
