How often do you guys change the CGD or baby food that you leave in the tank overnight? Do you have to change it every night? The expenses add up after awhile.

i change mine out every other night usually. it dries out after about a day where i live.

you only need to put in as much as it will eat. i am currently feeding 10 adults, and 25 babies/juvies and i feed them all with 3 table spoons of total mixed CGD.
i've been feeding over 15 geckos for the past 10 months on a 2.5lb. tub.
it will last quite awhile if you keep reducing the amount you give them until it is mostly gone. for my babies and juvies i usually on put 5-10 drops of the mix in their cage at a time.

Doesn't the food go bad sitting at room temperature that long? I had read somewhere that you had to get it out in the morning and that is what I have been doing. Its good to know that I dont have to do that now.

i think there are a few different variables involved. none of which i know of. ive heard some people say that their cgd will mold with in a day. mine doesnt though, i can make it last about 48 hrs. but i'm afraid to go any longer. ive never seen the mold though... guess you just gotta give it a try and see what kind of outcome you get! let me know!!!

I usually try to get it out of there by the end of day two, but sometimes it takes me longer. I've seen them eating 3-4 day old food before (after returning from out of town) and even though it looks disgusting, it doesn't seem to bother them.

You have to remember, a lot of geckos eat rotting fruit in the wild, so I wouldn't worry about having 2-3 day old baby food in the cage.

On average, I try to feed everyone 3 or 4 times per week and my geckos do just fine. Some people will say to feed them daily, but I think that's really a waste.

It dries out inside of a day or so for me, too, but then I spray it when I mist every 12 hours to keep it moist. Even when someone cleans their plate and I give them fresh food the next night, they rarely eat it anyway so I just put fresh out every other night. I've found that it gets "fuzzy" or sour-smelling at my place if I leave it any longer than that. Just keep decreasing the amount you put out until you find out how much they need. If you consider all of the ingredients you'd have to come up with in close-to-exact amounts and the time you'd spend measuring and mixing, you'll see how truly economical the CGD or GGD really is. Good luck, and I hope that you are enjoying your geckos!
