Aruba Island Rattlesnakes and Laws - Dealing with Captive Breds

RareRattlesnakes Jul 21, 2003 12:31 PM

Hello all

I wrote a classified at the SHHS website, because I have some last Crotalus unicolor Babies for sale.

1.1 Crotalus unicolor CB 2003 with all Papers for the highest bidder, was my posting there.

And I really got many many e-mails from extremely interested people around the world, especially from America and Canada.
But how are the laws there for dealing/buying/importing Crotalus unicolor CB's from Europe ???
Can I really send them to the United States or to Canada ??

Thanks for time and helping me....cheers

MH

I doubt USFW will allow anyone to bring any into the US. I tried for 5 years to import some CB, CITES I, ESA endangered animals and they never granted the permit. I filed 2 appeals and the permit was still declined. Now more recently they are enforcing the fact that you have to show benefit to the wild native population of said species in order to bring them into the US. This is mostly regarding IMPORTATION of federally protected species, regardless of their legal origin or the fact that they are CB. The main reason they gave me for rejecting my permit was that essentially they are afraid of people breeding them and the animals getting into the pet trade.

My advice: don't waste your time trying.
