DO you mean dry hides?

kurma Jul 21, 2003 12:39 PM

I was think to have a dry hide box and a humid hide box but would it be better to just have two humid hides?

TebbyGecko Jul 21, 2003 12:42 PM

No, no. That's a great idea, but they don't need a loose substrate in them. I just have half-cut hide logs and upside down deli-cups with no lid.

Somehow, in my little 10 gallon aquarium, I can manage to fit THREE hides, with room left over for walking and climbing. :P

I keep a dry hide each on both the cool and warm sides, which seems to work pretty nicely since I see them both being used.

Hey,

If you want to use something else in one of the hides why not peat moss, or spagnum moss in the humid hides? That way it'll have something that'll raise the humidity level when the lizards ready to shed... I also use forest bed (T-Rex) mixed with some perlite in my humid hides. I've also used straight perlite and haven't had any problems for the past three years... Hope this helped...
