Where are the anerythristic BRBs?

Jeff Clark Oct 20, 2005 01:20 AM

....In a post this evening safaridave mentioned crossing Hypos with Anerythristics to produce ghosts. We have seen that several people are working with the hypos and producing babies this year but I have not seen anyone advertising anerythristic babies for sale. I know that there have been anerythristic BRBs around for awhile. I would think that by now at least a few people would be producing them. Does anyone know of any bloodlines which have been proven as a heritable trait?

I got the opportunity to do a breeding loan this year with a guy who works with anerys. At this point, I still have not seen a baby anery in person and I've never seen a picture of one as an adult. My impression is that they lose that high contrast, silver/black coloration we've seen in the pictures, and become brown. You all know I love the hypomels, but I'm not too attracted to the anerys. The baby pictures are hot!!! But they seem to lose so much of that hotness. This is a good example of what Jeff is talking about. Anery is a morph that may not be an improvement on the original animal (not that it needs improving). Anery's aren't so exciting themselves but they are an important step to other forms. Anyone, feel free to correct me if I'm off on the coloration of adults.
Brazilians have great color. But, they also have really intricate patterns. Even if a brazilian were to lose all of it's red, it could be a stunning animal if were high contrast between saddles and background or between crescents, saddles and background. This is why I like the hypomels so much. There's a nice contrast between the outlines and the saddles.
I'd love to see a Brazilian that keeps the coloration of anery babies. They have white crescents, light saddles, silver/grey background and black outlines. These shades really accentuate one another. I guess I'd better get to work on that

I saw below that there was a pic of an Albino, I am sure they will be producing Double Hets for snow in the future, That would be another Morph, an All white BRB....

I believe this one is leucistic rather than a snow. White snakes? No thanks, I like COLORFUL snakes.

Adult anerys donot ever gain the reds of thre normals (hence the name) but there are other chromatophores present. The Anery babies tend to start gaining yellow and black pigment as a normal BRB would, but without the red they typically turn a dirty brown color. i am still looking for BRB's that are silver and black as adults. If you find any, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
