Lemon Pastel vs. Normal Pastel - What's the difference?

jmartin104 Oct 20, 2005 06:36 AM

I would expect a Lemon Pastel to be brighter and more vibrant. I'm seeing ads for Lemons that are down right ugly and barely qualify as an ugly Pastel. Am I missing something? I have no Lemon Pastels, only normal so I cannot do a side-by-side comparison.

Compare the number of people selling lemons vs. the number of breeder lemons available last fall. NERD has a lemon line that consistently breeds brighter animals, but only a relative few of those animals are out there, compared to the claims. It's generally best to ignore the adjectives, and judge for yourself from a picture.

I see it all of the time and I just grumble to myself....

THere are many people calling this and that lemons when they are NOT!

I do not even produce lots of Lemons....here and there...my original male is a sporadic breeder at best and I relied on him for years for almost all of my production. This year I made some real nice ones and I have done well selling them. They really are different, they don't have all of the orange. A best case example is black, yellow and white with a nice neck stripe on it!

If you mix a Lemon and a normal Pastel line together they are NOT Lemons.... that introduces they orange and you lose what makes it a Lemon.

The Lemon line denotes my original wild caught male that is different than my other pastels.

The only real difference i have seen is the fact that you nail on the term "Lemon" to the beginning of the name, the value automatically jumps up by about 400-500.

sometimes it's just the money that is differnt I think

lemons should be better and brighter ...but at times they are just as "overshadowed" or whatever you want to call being faded by color over top the yellow.....

.....

sometimes they are clean and beautiful yellows and do not have overcasting dullness.....

at times they grow dull and at times ??I supose they would stay clear yellow?.someone may post a clear adult pic?.....

…to the "Wild & Wooly" Ball Python market.
Some sell snakes, some snake oil. It's wide-open, unregulated and you have to consider the options before you buy. What's in a name? Depends on who's calling it. And not all people have integrity; this market brings out the best & worst in people. I love it! I enjoy the craziness & I don't mind thinking for myself, I'll be sad when they get around to regulating this like everything else.

Some say of the market “the ship has sailed" & they'll cite examples of why… all in the past tense: backward thinkers. But I look ahead & see that there’s still freshness here, newness, filled with incredible possibilities! To me seems like there’s so much to look forward to… yep, I’m hooked!
