I recently saw some shinasaurus at a show & I am planning on getting some but first I wanted to know if any has kept them before. I read a few articles on them & the seller said he'll give me support but just figured I'll ask around some also.

They are wonderful pets and highly saught after. They are also endangered and rarely available. Most likely you will find captive bred. There are very few of these around, so don't get them unless you plan to breed to them and make sure you document the blood lines. Care is similar to waterdragons, accept they don't breed as often and have live young. Simulating a rainy season during April and May will help with any breeding efforts. If you get these, I wish you luck, I would snatch them up if I had the space for them.

breeding would definately be the purpose as I breed snakes now & hopefully monitors soon as they are old enough.

Try to get two different blood lines, and as much documentation about the blood lines as possible. With most common species of lizards and snakes, inbreeding is done to bring out resessive traits and is common practice, but with endangered species, like this one, the goal is to avoid inbreeding as much as possible. Bert Langerwerf at Agama International is in the process of breeding them, but he doesn't have any for sale yet. Maybe next year.
