Some of my Hl's.......

Ryan-reptilian Oct 21, 2005 01:02 AM

Since there isn't much field activity to post about I thought I would share some pics of my Hl's and where they live.
Also I would like to thank Cable for my latest additions,.....4 Solare hatchlings.
Enjoy!

My unfinished herp room at my new house. The HL's are in the 60 gal tank on the bottom, second from the right.

As soon as my back yard is complete I plan on building a couple large outdoor enclosures for Hl's, Leopard lizards, Collards, and desert iggy's, etc.

Anyone else have any photos to share??
Ryan

Ryan, very healthy looking little buggars, the Solare I have been studying now for two years, this is my second wintering, all though there was copulation between the male and female, the male was small and also I dind't think he was going to have the stuff to produce and I was correct. I now have another male which I sent back the otherfor the outside enclosure and he is doig well and I hope to get offspring this year. The Solare love the big red Texas ants that we have here and do well on them.

Also I may be wrong, but Ryan don't you live in California??? IF you do my one suggestion that I see about your reptile room is your not earthquake proof, if you got a fair sized earthquake whats stopping those cages from taking a dump? Other than that it looks great!!!

Thanks reptoman! So far it seems to me that the solare have much bigger appetites than my DHL's. I've been giving them a mixture of p.californicus and the big harvesters from antsalive.com.
Good observation about my reptile room. Notice the 3 wooden legs on the left side of the picture. Those are legs that I will be putting underneath the bottom shelf for more stability. The top shelf will be getting a nylon strap.
Thanks again!
Ryan
