Hi matt - we have all let this happen at least once. The moth will likely come out before you need to do anything with the eggs. Trying to remove them while still yellow will damage them so I would leave it alone and let the moth emerge. Then, if it is only a few days and the eggs have turned dark gray/purple you can stick the whole cocoon in your fridge. When you are ready to hatch them out, you can pull the silk loose and cut clumps off. If you have other successful breeding going on and can forfeit the eggs (and maybe the adult, too) you can stick the whole cocoon into the freezer and just not bother with them. It may be more work than needed. In the future, always have some wax paper, cardboard tubes, anything that the moths can walk onto so they do not mate and lay on the cocoon. Btw, you can carefully pick up a mating pair and move them together, the male's claspers get a pretty firm grip on her! Good Luck!
