Clyde slowly recovering

tanmuscles Jul 21, 2003 01:34 PM

Here is clyde enjoying a good soak. I haven't seen any more signs of the upper resperatory infection, so i'm hoping that its gone. Since we found him 4 days ago, he's eaten 2 pinkies and threw up one of them. That was 3 days ago, he hasn't eaten since. Do you think this is a problem? He is also fairly sluggish, even with a basking spot in the 130 range. He doesn't come out of hiding much to bask or drink. When i take him out, he doesn't act threatened or scared though, just lethargic. What else can i do to help him?

Did you raise the night temps up also?My water monitor had a respiratory infection and I raised the overall temps by 10 degrees.Night temps stayed at 85-90 for 10 days and it cleared up fine on it's own.

I'll do that. Do you think the sluggishness is a result of the infection?

My last Sav Nico had a URI and I had to put him to sleep. I got him from a pet store ( big mistake) and within a week he was sick. He became lethargic, always closed his eyes, barely eat anything and eventually his mouth was blue. When I got him to the hospital the vet said he had days to live and was barely able to breath. Let me ask you this if you ever see your monitor yawn or look like he's yawning and you know he has a URI go to the vet now because he's about to check out....

Wow he looks real dehydrated and thin. Not much fat stores if any in that tail. Has he been to a vet yet for fecals? if not please do so you have a long road in front of you to get him turned around. Well atleast you should hope for a long road as a short road will only lead one way I am afraid.

Good luck with him.
