A few months ago I posted a topic about fattening my box turtles for hibernation. I was told that they are not bears (lol). Anyway I fed them crickets, snails and thawed mice and they are fat and ready. Thanks for the info and the sass.

Good luck Tom. I hope they do well for you while imitating bears. 
It's hibernation time here too, I have one who tapered off on her feeding during the hottest part of summer but now that it's time to sleep, she's eating like a pig. I know she was someone's pet before she got here a year & a half ago. She didn't hibernate last year, she doesn't have parasites.. I don't know what's up with her but last Thursday her vet said keep her in again. So we are, now I have 4 in the house for winter. pfffffft. I need a new enclosure!
