BIG BABY! more...

My one year old patternless Pumpkin, is huge compared to all my other geckos. I don't have a scale right now, but hope to purchase one soon. So, all I can give you to go by is length. He is eight inches, and I measured the width of his head, and it is approx. 1 1/2 inches. I am curious about the fact that he is so big, what caused it? He has had his own tank since we got him, and my other geckos all shared tanks. My four adults were in a tank together from the time my fiance's brother brought them home. When I bought them from him, I kept them all together. Then I had to start seperating them, due to fighting, and bullying. My two year olds, Boo and Popeye were also together in thier tank until a couple of months ago, now they are in thier own tanks. So, has anyone else noticed that thier seperated geckos grow bigger, or is it just the pumpkin is a patternless morph? Any ideas? Thanks for any replies.

8 inches isn't all that big. Maybe all your other leos are runts? Mine is about 8 inches long and almost 50 grams which is actually kind of small for most leos. Most I've seen are more like 9 inches. Leos usually range anywhere from 7 to 12 inches and 40 to like....140 grams or more. I can't really check my facts right now but this is a guess based on all the leos I've seen personally which is a lot. Maybe you could post a picture of yours? If it weighs a lot compared to its size I'd just say it's fat and sassy lol.

Him being by himself may be one of the reasons, he is normal size and the others are just smaller. I have found that my leos in groups have grown slower than the ones that are housed alone. This may have to do with compition over who is going to get to the food faster or whos boss. Stress of living in groups may do it too, since they are solitary animals in the wild.

Yeah, I think you are right. I have noticed that a lot of the geckos I see look a lot bigger than mine. Pumpkin makes my two year olds look like liitle wieners! I want them to all catch up to him, which is why I have them all seperated now. I don't know thier wieghts, because I don't have a scale. I am planning to get one though, right now I just make sure they are all nice and chunky. I don't have any good enough pics to post, but I am going to try to get some soon. I still do not know what morphs they all are, except for Pumpkin. :O Well, thanks for the reply.
