Indoor Winter Enclosure

Bighurt Oct 21, 2005 07:11 PM

I post here rather often but its usually a coment or anwser rarely a question. Well today I get to use that option. Keep in mind I already posted this question on the Cyclura & Ctenosaura forum. My question as follows;

"I am well aware of whats required and believe outdoor enclosures are probally the best set up. My problem is winter enclosures. It is far to cold to house cyclura outdoors here in the winter. I guess what I am asking is for winter enclosure ideas or possible solution's. Any ideas?
Pictures encouraged!"

Now I am fully aware of the requirements just looking for more ideas than answers or probally temporary solutions. Pictures are recommended.
Thanks in advance.
Jeremy

I feel you have two choices: 1 move them inside with cages or 2 winterize the outdoor cages. Depends on where you live (Snow). Ligting and Kane heat mat are an option.

Tell more about your geographical area and how they are housed. This will help others to give you ideas form their experiences.

Snow dosen't even come close. I live in ND temps here in the winter often drop to -50F not to metion the wind chill. Right now I house all my Iguanas indoors. In what are rather large cages. I have pondered turning the attic into a cage but the limited axcess is less than desireably. The wife and I are planning on moving in the next 5 yrs so anything done to the property has to up the price and frankly a greenhouse is not an ammenity here in the great white north. A heated shed would be more of head turner. Mainly I was looking for fresh ideas along with pictures. More of the structure and housing less about husbandry or heating.
