NICE. That snake just pumps me up for a study I get to do in Costa Rica soon. What have you noticed in reguards to crepuscular activity of Bothrops in a captive environment? Also, have you noticed changes in activity (diurnal, crepuscular, nocturnal) with age?

Well in my experience with B. Aspers in captivity and the few I have found in Costa Rica, they basically lie around all day in a spot tightly coiled up. But, once the lights go out, they are on the move. I have witnessed with mine that they will cruise for a bit once its dark, then coil up ready for an ambush.

Sweet indeed. What are you feeding them? I started a couple several years ago on greenhouse frogs until they were big enough for pinks.

Greg, All these guys are big enought to take small pinks with ease. I am sure there will be a few holdouts who will take anoles/frogs as their first meal. The B. Atrox I posted above are savages. Three have already eaten f/t pinks.

That's good. I really don't like to use native (or in this case, established exotics) as food sources. Those frogs have been in at least southern Florida since the 19th century. The two aspers I raised for several months started out so small that pinks were too big. I got those from George Van Horn, & returned them after one stood on his tail. Not that he came close to getting me, but I had visions of a five footer doing that same trick. When I brought them back to George & explained what happened, he laughed & told me not to feel bad. It seems that asper is about the only snake that really scares Bill Haast.

That was about exactly what I was expecting. It is actually going to play a bigger roll in the study than you would think so I thank you a lot for taking the time to comment.

The snake looks great. Congrats

Thanks again
