Late night trip to the snake house can tell you ALOT!!!!

I had my pastel male lock up for 2days with a female about 2 weeks ago. Since then ive tried some other females with no luck so i figured the girls were just being stuck up this early in the season.

I went out this morning about 3am and the female i had put in with him was circling the cage, flipping her tail in his face with every pass. That went on for another hour or so and she finally gave up.

So im putting him in with another male today and let them fight it out. Maybe that will kick him back into shape. Weve got a good storm coming to florida this weekend so Im taking advantage of it.

Anyone have any tips they'd like to share......

I keep a fresh shed from other males on hand to put in the cage to help stimulate the occupying male.

I know everyone things africa is a real dry place, it is for the most part but if you look at the average humidity levels in ghana year round you will see early mornings are up in the higher 80-90% percentile of humidity. Now most peoples sheds, garages or basements are nowhere near that. I've been using a humidifier to really moisten the room and it works fantastic, no colds, they eat great and they breed like no tomorrow.

these that have stopped feeding are all imports too.

My humidity stays about 70%-90%, but the cool spell down here is droping it to 60%. Ill get that fixed, but Ive never had any humidifiers work very well. I bought several for the Uroplatus geckos I use to keep, but it just made everything wet.

Any brand you recommend

Here in central FL, mine have mostly stopped feeding. We had some cooling weather about a month ago and feeding has all but stopped - one or two sporadic feeders. I'm starting my temp changes and will start breeding introductions in Nov.

Its HOTTT down here...........but we are enjoying the cool down associated with Hurricane Wilma......you all should enjoy the drop in barometric pressure thats coming...................

Everything is still feeding like there is no tomorrow down here................sucks for a LOT of people..........there is a HUGE rodent shortage down here.............mainly rats from med & larger are basically unavailable........Luckily i breed my own Rats........but its still rough this time of year......production is lower than in the cooler months........

My snake room is about 82-84 degrees. Instead of the 90s outside, we have been in the 80s. Which is a cool down for us. I have not turned on the heat in my house in over 2 years. I'm trying something different this year. I wished they were all still feeding as I have a few that could use a little more weight.

Thanks for the post Jared,

Im up near Ocala and most of my import females have already stopped eating so id figured I would try it a bit early.

The CBB are still going strong as always...........

Thanks again

I have only observed that behavior from females who are not ready to breed yet. I think it means "get out of hear you jerk!"

The females point of view makes better sense.

Anyone else have this happen. Im still learning as I go this season.

Its still early yet. Maybe he will get a shot on monday when the storm comes through.

I'm in North Florida nad it's starting to get cold. I've never had any of my females stop eating during the breeding season. If anything, they eat twice as much as normal.
Just last night I put a female in with my het pied male, and she was 'spraying' all over the cage.
