amputated tail

Hello, why do the geckos` tail go on moving when it is amputated ?, i would like to know it, thank very much.

it continues moveing because it is a defense mechanism.. when an animal tries to eat it it will drop its tail and the tail will wiggle to destract the animal... and then the gecko can get away...

It's a continued reaction of the severed nerves. Same thing that causes snakes to continue to twitch and wiggle around after their heads have been forcefully removed from their bods
