So what are you using for a lid?.I've raised baby bloods in a ten gallon, but I would use cypress mulch to help keep humidity up as glass tanks don't do that well. You'll definately have to mist almost daily, not saturating it but enough to keep the humididty.I'd start monitoring temps and humiditiy now before your guy shows up.

Im using a screen lid. Im gonna put somthing over part of it to keep humidity high enough.

If your going to use a 10 gallon which is going to make it harder for you definately cover it with plexi or a towel or something over the screen lid. Also a humidity monitor wouldnt hurt as well since it will no doubt be somewhat variable.

Yea...definitely cover that baby...it won't look pretty, but I'd tape some saran (plastic) wrap over 19 inches of the top (leaving a 1" x 10" "open" space). Covering less won't do you much good.

As for humidity gauges, here is a fairly inexpensive ($30) one I found at Target...it's quite accurate, wireless, and has a temp gauge as well.

Zach-

I can't think of any good reason to have carpet in there. It will be a nightmare to get clean (if it actually ever gets truly clean), it will have an uncanny ability to house and hide any ectoparasites you might recieve, and it will probably mold fairly well.

Go for newspaper or cypress mulch, those are far better choices.
